The W6SAR repeater is open to all licensed amateur radio operators and is located at 3,250 feet in the Sierras in Foresthill, California. The repeater has coverage from about Tracy in the south to Orland in the north, west to Fairfield and into the Sierra Nevada range to the summit near Lake Tahoe.The repeater is a Kenwood TKR-750 interfaced to a Link Communications RLC-4 controller which allows for linking to the UHF repeater. Power is backed up by the site battery/generator system. The repeater feeds about 25 watts into split RFS 5db vertical antennas on the tower.
The repeater is owned and operated by the Placer County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Communications Unit.
