The W6SAR repeater is open to all licensed amateur radio operators and is located at 2,500 feet near Vacaville, California. The repeater has coverage from about Modesto in the south to Dunnigan in the north, easterly into the Sierra Nevada range to the summit near Lake Tahoe.The repeater is a modified GE MASTR II repeater interfaced to a Link Communications RLC-1 controller which allows for receiver activity to be transmitted out a modified GE MVP mobile back to Foresthill to the voting system. The repeater feeds about 25 watts into DB Products DB-516 vertical.
The repeater is owned and operated by the Placer County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Communications Unit.
