Donner 223.820 Repeater The W6SAR repeater at Donner Summit is open to all licensed amateur radio operators and is located at 7,750 feet in the Sierras near Soda Springs, California. The repeater has coverage of Interstate 80 from about Baxter to Reno and also provides coverage of parts of Lake Tahoe.

The repeater is a modified GE MVP mobile radio interfaced to a Link Communications RLC-4 controller which allows for linking to the 420 hub repeater at Mt. Vaca. There is also a Doug Hall RBI remote base controller that controls a Kenwood TM-701A radio. This allow for a steerable remote base on 2-meters and UHF. Power is provided by a pair of deep cycle batteries which are kept charged by a LaMarche charging system. The repeater feeds about 25 watts into a Wacom bpbr duplexer with an additional 4" pass cavity on the transmitter. The antenna is an AEA Isapole fed with 1/2" Andrews Heliax.

The repeater is owned and operated by the Placer County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Communications Unit.
